CD ReviewsFunky chick - whish I knew what she was saying.... A. Mesheau | Calgary, AB Canada | 11/29/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "This woman is incredible. You put her on in the morning as you're readying yourself for the day and you can't help but have a good one. She sounds like a mix of Edie Brickell and Bjork (if you have to put her in a category). The only downfall is that you can't understand what she's on about. You can just tell that the lyrics are just as good as they sound. But, if you're into mystique, this is for you!" One of the best Japanese albums out there Mark Warren | Yatsushiro Shi, Kumamoto Ken Japan | 04/06/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I live in Japan, and am constantly complaining about the horrible bubble-gum music over here. UA's Turbo stands out head and shoulders above the heartless, hollow, meaningless tripe the people usually listen to on this island nation. Funky beats, good lyrics, and whoever did the producing was refreshingly competent. I would probably give this album a four, but considering the work she's had to do to get this cool in Japan, I'm giving her an extra star." Buy it now, thank me later. EgusHdus | Hua Hin, Thailand USA | 07/30/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I saw the video on Japanese TV then watched for days to figure out who they were...compellingly relaxed music. Think "early Traffic with Steve Winwood", and add a latin/african/carribean backbeat...Impanema?Everyone I play this for loves it. I listen to Ua (Oooh-Ahhh) over and over, never tiring. And it's a bit mysterious for a non-japanese speaker as we can't understand the lyrics...the voice becomes a form of jazzy "scat" singing...an instrument to itself. The FIRST (self-titled) album is just as good, and a little different melodically. Buy them all. ..."
