"Decca's 5CD sets are a great way to start a classical collection or to complete an existing one. Even if you already have the music in different performances, it's worth looking here because Decca's catalog features many great recordings.
So what do we have here:
CD1-2: Brandenburg Concertos conducted by Neville Marriner. This is an excellent performance and you may also want to look at Ultimate Baroque [Box Set] to pair these with Bach's Orchestral Suites.
CD3: Violin Concertos with Arthur Grumiaux - simply great violin playing from one of last century's violin masters.
CD4: Goldberg Variations with Andras Schiff. This seems to be the first of three recordings made by Schiff. I only listened to this superficially, so I can't provide a personal opinion, but I saw great reviews of this recording.
CD5: Organ works played by Carlo Curley including the famous Toccata and Fugue.
So, in this box we get a selection of great orchestral works, the beautiful violin concerti, the famous Goldberg Variations played here on piano, and a good selection of organ music - all at budget price. What's not to like here?"
