"This 5-CD installment in Decca's often surprising "Ultimate" series must be the best Stauss bargain on earth, because every performance is with the Vienna Phil. under Willi Boskovsky. Decca had an exclusive with them throughout the Fifties and Sixties, so these are vintage recordings in very good analog sound. Other conductors were greater than Boskovsky, but the VPO's revered concertmaster is never less than echt Viennese.

"This is the re-issue of the well known 6cd box set by decca on top of the amazon list. Only difference, the old cd6 here is no more and from cd 3, 2 tracks (7&8) have been eliminated. The rest is identical. Great music, great price, but if you have the old one do not go for this."
