"I have been an Urbie Green fan for decades since I first discovered him as a slide trombone player! My first teacher Camille Verdier did not like us speaking about those cats! When I first discovered Bill Watrous in the late 70s it was even worse! Remember the Manhattan Wild Refuge? I started practicing 10 hours a day when I first heard Bill Watrous and what could be done on a slide trombone! Those cats were around, idols and fascinating! When I first "landed" in New York Manhattan the first thing I did was looking for Urbie's fine recordings and lo and behold! There did I find them in the Big Apple waiting for me!
Actually 2 former 21 trombones were called into project by Urbie Green: Urbie Green and Twenty of the "World's Greatest" Project Total Sound Reference PR 5014 SD and the second one Urbie Green and Twenty of the "World Greatest" Project Total Sound Reference PR 5024 SD; I hold both copies in my hands right now "lucky me"; those are treasures probably worth a fortune for jazz fanatics like me! I recommend the suave, sound melting, one voice amazing blend of those 2 incredible recordings! I hope Project digitalizes those older recordings in order to make them available to Trombone Jazz fans like me again! Let's wait and see if it ever comes out again! Kind Regards : Bruno Pierre Gebarski Hamburg Germany"

"This is a one of a kind album. Fantastic! However, the original release date of 1987 is incorrect. I bought the album back in the mid to late 1960's."

"Urbie Green and the rest of the 21 trombones, some of which are well known, are absolutely awesome. Their harmony is very rich starting with multiple bass trombones continuing up to the stratosphere on some tunes. Some trumpet players mistakenly think that the high notes are too high to be made by trombones. Their musicianship and interpretation are very stylish. The variety of styles from tune to tune is enjoyable. The arrangements are very interesting."
