"Above is a direct quote from 'Majesty', included on this here little disk. And like the rest of the album, 'Majesty' blasts off and attempts to destroy every hook and melody with blasts of feedback and squeeling guitars. Very often, Yatsura are compared to early era Pavement. Though that's a pretty good assesment of their sound, it's not entirely fair. Unlike Pavement, Yatsura tend to sneer less, and smile a bit more. There aren't alot of obsure refrences and name dropping here to smirk at, ala Pavement. The 'Stunray EP' is pure noise-pop bliss. It includes 'Kewpies Like Watermelon' from their full length, 'We Are Yatsura' (also highly recommended). 'Sucker' is a sweet, jangly little thing, and the 'Burriko Girl' (demo) finishes off this EP with it's lilting, lo-fi guitar/zitherish melody, and sleepy vocals. 'Burriko' keeps threatening to come to a dramatic crescendo, but never does. It just teases. Which is appropo for this EP. It's an excellent teaser to the rest of their body of work. A short and sweet listen."
