Synopsis

Album Description
Japanese pressing of Van Halen's single disc Best Of Vol. 1 (originally released in 1996) featuring one bonus track: 'Hot For Teacher'. This was the compilation that essentially brought Van Halen to a close when the band drafted in original vocalist David Lee Roth to record two new tracks. This reunion was short-lived but it was enough to anger then-current vocalist Sammy Hagar into leaving the band. Hagar did tour with the band in 2004, but they've never recovered from the firestorm that this release sparked! 18 tracks. Warner. 2007.

CD Reviews

Overpriced and Lacking

"I was at a music store looking for the remastered van halen cd's when I came across this. It was priced at $14.99. Amazon seems to charge the same amount at times. Wait what? $15 for a disc that's missing so many songs? For $15, you'd be better off with "Best of Both Worlds" (even though that one is bad too).

Get BOBW or keep your studio albums. This is overpriced and lacking."
Good starter CD

"I bought this CD back in '96 when it came out. Prior to that, I had just the 1984 album, and that was it as far as Van Halen goes. I'm not a diehard Van Halen fan by any means, but this CD is a good sampling of some of their best material from their first two lead singers, David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar.

On this CD you'll get such classics as Eruption, Runnin' With The Devil, Dance The Night Away, And The Cradle Will Rock, Jump, Panama, Why Can't This Be Love, Dreams, Right Now, Humans Being, and two then-new tracks with David Lee Roth on vocals - Can't Get This Stuff No More, and Me Wise Magic.

This CD was released just before Gary Cherone joined the band as the new lead singer after Sammy Hagar left.

Overall, it's a good compilation that I recommend."
