"You know Ice is getting desperate for fans when they are giving away copies of "Hot Sex" when you spend over $20 at Cheapo. That's exactly how a friend of mine introduced me to Vanilla's new album. In the midst of a Friday night, we decided to throw it in for a laugh, and several laughs we got.
Ice abandons the heavy metal and comes back with a pompous, brag heavy, hardcore brand of gangster rap. The opening track "Hip-Hop Rules" has plenty of laughs on it's own. Aside from the cheesy refrain, Ice brags about being as big as Jay-Z (back then), paving the way for Eminem, his love affair with hip-hop, owning 10 cars and 5 cribs, and cashing phat checks. It's funny to hear a rapper like Ice rap about "bling" and driving his benz, doing drugs, then jumping in with lyrics about his wife and kids. Much like many of the generic beats featured on "Hot Sex", "Dirty South" features a generic Ludacris beat. Ice still conveys delusions of being a hardcore rapper, now more than ever. Even so, Vanilla is quite serious on this record, trying to prove his presence in the rap world, but comes off cheesy as ever. 13 years and 7 albums later, the lyrics get amazingly cheesier.
Overall, Ice raps "OK", and the lyrics are hilariously funny. If you're in the mood to hear some re-hashed pop gangster rap and laugh at the same time, this album is for you.

"Wow Vanilla Ice is my god he's just soo cool like I look up to him every day! It's such an inspiration to see that his first album has 111 reviews on Amazon, his album after that has 180, his album after that has 80, his album after that has 42, and Hot Sex has twenty!! It just goes to prove what a lasting impact he has, that people are still reviewing his CDs years later!
Oh who am I kidding, he's an idiot. But he provided me with plenty of laughs on The Farm. Great guy!"

"Trust me. Forget all the bad things you have herd about Vanilla Ice. This guy can rap no doubt about it. This CD proves it. If this CD only got some radio play there would be a few hits on it. Hot Sex and Tha Weed Song are just two that come to mind. Vanilla Ice is back in a phat phresh way. Im not saying he is going to topple Eminem or anything but all the people who have ever hated on Vanilla Ice need to listen to this CD and forget its him because one you listen to this CD you will think differently about the Ice Man. Other Vanilla Ice CD's to check out are "Bi-Polar", "Hard To Swallow" and "Mind Blowin""
