Amazon.com Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck may take starring credits for this Don Roos (The Opposite of Sex) film, but it's Leigh Nash, singer for Sixpence None the Richer, stepping out into the spotlight with the soundtrack's first single, "Need to Be Next to You." Perhaps a solo career beckons. However, her band is featured as well with the remix of "Love" from their 1997 self-titled debut album. Sarah McLachlan collaborates with the moody ambient group Delerium for their otherworldly single, "Silence." Morcheeba offer the moody groove of "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day." Lots of notable female artists contribute delicate, soft-rock confectioneries, from old-school Carly Simon (a remix of "Our Affair" from her latest album, The Bedroom Tapes) to up-and-comer Tara MacLean. Will 'The Thrill' | WeHo, CA United States | 11/12/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "Quite simply, the Bounce movie soundtrack may very well be the compilation of the year, especially the first five tracks. It doesn't get any better than opening with Leigh Nash (singer of Sixpence None the Richer) and her amazingly emotive performance on "Need to Be Next To You" before Beth Orton eloquently delivers a different version of the title track from her last album. Then, the ultra hot Dido track "Here With Me" segues into the much-underappreciated Tara MacLean (that'll change) who sings passionately on "Divided" before the ethereal poignant "Silence" by Delerium (featuring Sarah McLachlan). And though the price of the CD is compensated by these 5 great tracks, it just keeps delivering with music by Sophie B Hawkins, Morcheeba, Angie Aparo and Sister 7 and finishes up with BT, a star on the rise. If you're a fan of great female singers, then you'll soon find yourself in heaven with this soundtrack...you just have to Bounce to get there." Don't judge a soundtrack by its movie! Cami | Southern Indiana | 02/15/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "This soundtrack is simply one of the best out there! It ranks right up there with soundtracks such as "Cruel Intentions" and "Go". Almost every song is divine! Track #1, sang by Leigh Nash of Sixpence None The Richer, is a slow, sweet love song. Track #3 is by Delerium and features not only singing monks but also the angelic voice of Sara McLachlan. (This song is also featured on the "Brokedown Palace" soundtrack). If you like bands like VAST, you'll love Delerium! Another terrific female artist on the soundtrack is Dido. Her voice is mesmerizing, and this particular song gives me chills while listening to its overpowering beauty. If you like bands like Our Lady Peace, then check out Track #10 by Angie Aparo. Finally, for all of you techno fans, the last track is by BT and serves as a wonderful song to wrap up this packed-full-of-hits CD. This is a great CD to listen to while driving in your car on long trips! Every song is worth listening to. I can't stress enough how great this CD is. I only wish Heather Nova were featured on it since she fits right in with the other female talents on this CD. One final word of advice: Don't expect the movie to be as good as the soundtrack!" Partly for this reason, this album is a little weak in variety. Many of the songs are ho-hum.BUT there are several outstanding songs to note. The much-played Here With Me by Dido is a great song, despite its heavy rotation. Silence by Delerium with Sarah McLachlan is one of my favorites ever. It's an ethereal, haunting masterpiece and any fan of Sarah Mc needs to own it. Never Gonna Come Back Down by BT is a goofy, thumping, techno/dance tune with a catchy chorus and a welcome chnage of pace. But the standout to me is Angie Aparo's Hush. I don't know anything about him, but this song is awesome. It's an emotional rocker with definite pop sensibility and a brilliant chorus.SO, overall, like most soundtracks, you'll enjoy half the songs and probably skip the rest. Unless you just LOVE Leigh Nash."
