A really great album marred by inconsistancy.

"I have a major weakness for dance music from the late 1980s through the first half of the 1990s and this dance collection is a treasure chest of great dance tracks most of which are remixes of their original counterparts. The main problem with this collection isn't the selection of songs but I don't like how when the song plays towards the ending, they just cut off the ending like as if the recording equipment stopped working and then the next track begins. One example is of "Feeling like Summer" by Donna SUmmer which is suddenly interrupted by Oleta Adam's (Heavenly Remix) of "Rhythm Of Life". Both of these songs are very good but are stymied by this problem and this I think is a mistake that often dogs many dance compilations, the songs crash into each other instead of fading or merging. However some of these tracks are very obscure or very hard to find. One is "Dirty Cash" and several other dance tracks as well. I got this CD for two tracks though. One was "Dirty Cash" by Stevie V and the other was "Touch Me All Night Long". "Dirty Cash" is a flamboyant hip-hop dance number with a New Jack Swing beat and really cool saxophone riffs in the background. "Touch Me All Night Long" by Cathy Dennis to me is one of the pinnacles of dance music of the early 1990s. The dance beat is just perfect and I just love the melody and rhythm. The version on here of course is the techno-dance edit that was very popular on the radio back in the early 1990s but this version adds some new keyboard layouts and some extended edits stretching this already timeless track to a glorious 7 minutes long! As I said earlier, this album is marred by some of the tracks suddenly being cut off but overall this is a very good dance CD and worth buying, albeit buying used or cheap. Most will find this CD to be of minimal value but for me this CD is great!"

Good For One's Aerobic Workout...

"But, sadly, that is the extent of the CD's value! Basically this is a compilation of fairly routine dance remixes, featuring two classic jams ("Finally" by Ce Ce Peniston and "I Feel Love" by disco queen Donna Summer) and the rest being familiar solely to the club crowd."

"Mercury's "100% Pure Dance" is a delightful collection of dance discs. Seduction's "Two to Make It Right" is one of the catchiest ditties you'll likely to hear. (I made the mistake of playing it on my way to church and kept singing to myself throughout the service, "It takes two to make the thing go right; It takes two to make it out of sight.") Stevie Vincent's "Dirty Cash" has a great techno dance beat that gets my shoulders swaying, "I wasn't right, now it's all behind, I want to get rich quick, I want success." "Energy" by Devone has a great beat and a positive lyric, "So lift your hands, I'll set you free; People are equal in unity." Donna Summer is one of my all-time favorite artists! "I Feel Love" written with Georgio Moroder is a bit more subtle than "On the Radio" or "Bad Girls," but it has an airy flare. The reviewer who said the track cuts off abruptly in its fade is correct, which is a bit of a technical disappointment from Mercury. Oleta Adams has such an amazing voice and vocal range. On "Rhythm of Life" her vocals soar over the insistent beat, "Angels cry when they hear that tune." Sandy B.'s "Feel Like Singin'" is a little jewel that has a happy feel of celebration. Cathy Dennis' "Touch Me All Night" is a great pumping track with some killer bass. Incognito's "Always There" is another strong cut that blasts out of the speakers. 12 of the 13 tracks are by female artists which gives this collection a unique feel. Lots of jewels here! Enjoy!"
