CD ReviewsThe art of the remix M. Clemens | San Francisco, CA USA | 05/10/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "Certainly the best of the modern remix albums -- which include Ambient Collection, FON Mixes, and Drum and Bass Collection -- this compilation best captures the irreverent spirit of the original band. Some tracks are truly inspired: Chi2's "Eye of the Noodle", Eliot Levine's jazzy "Rapt." Original band member JJ Jeczalik's "Art of Silence" gives a glimpse of what Might Have Been had AoN survived a label change and each other with creativity intact. The only drawback is that despite the varied catalog of original songs to draw from (in both ZTT and China days), this album still contains two "Beat Box" remakes, and (count 'em) three "Moments in Love" reworks -- I would have preferred not revisiting the same song (even in different forms) so many times. But even AoN wasn't immune to the temptation to include one or two remixes of favorite tracks on a single album, so perhaps even this indulgence is more true to the AoN spirit."
