"Finally I review "Acid Space"! If your idea of acid-space music is Chicago, Canned Heat, Yardbirds, Johnny Winter or Tim Rose, this set is for you! The first three discs, on Dressed To Kill Records, are mostly 60's and early 70's groups playing what could be called psychedelic music, although some are just blues songs. Many of the songs are live, so the sound quality is poor. I'd call the fidelity of the first 3 discs "murky". Some of the songs are semi-interesting, but not essential. The best songs are the Daevid Allen and the Robert Calvert & Amon Duul ones.
Disc 4, the "Bonus Disc", however, is worth the price of the whole set (which, at $18.98, is a pretty good deal for 50 songs). On Purple Pyramid Records, it has the real acid space music. Good, interesting tracks, 74 minutes long, mostly groups from the 60's and early 70's and some newer space rock bands. It's called "Archives of Space" so it probably has been available elsewhere. The sound quality is also much better than on the other 3 discs."

"I think that the live tracks from the first 3 disks are really rare gems that any progressive rock junkie would go nuts over. They chose artists that represent a good portion of the vast array of bands that were experimenting with progressive rock themes. The live performances though aren't soundboard recordings do a very good job of representing the live sounds of acid rock. I really enjoy this compilation and would recommend to anyone looking for a good collection of non studio hard to find tracks."
