"I doubt there's a more diverse, more exciting collection of American fiddle music available today. With over 30 (!) tracks on one CD - all of them puerely instrumental, no vocals-, it is a collection of all the different shades and styles that this exhilarating music has to offer: from rustic, uncouth melodies to the more polished tunes of our time, from melodies that could have been taped in Scotland or Ireland to very American originals. The sound quality is excellent; so is the accompanying booklet, that does not only contain a mint of information, but also shows how dedicatd the Rounder people are to the conservation and promotion of traditional American music."
