"When I am in my studio, sometimes I will put this CD on random order/continuous loop, and let it play for hours. For a while it was one of only a few CD's I owned, and it never got boring. The musical virtuosity can't be beat."
NOT "Best of World Music"

"When Putumayo World Music began,it was ambitious with its "Best of World Music" compilations.Luckily,it has branched out in different genres&while not seeking out "THE BEST",it has brought excellent music to a broader audience. Its "Odyssey","Lounge","Playground"&"Groove" series are examples of this.
This compilation is disappointing. It does have some highlights-
1)Angola Beleza Natural-Great opening track.Very joyful.
2)Rete-Relaxing&upbeat.
3)Casale-Great song from the African supergroup Toure Kunda.
4)Sawale-Great song from Kotoja,a group that has sadly vanished into obscurity.I read recently that they're playing around here in the Bay Area.
5)Te Araro-A rousing song from Polynesia.
NOT a great track record to have 5 great songs&7 not-so-great ones.
Instead, get "African Groove","Brazilian Groove"&"African Groove" if you like dance music.Putumayo's "New World Party" is a VAST improvement on this same theme.Putumayo has learned from its past mistakes&has come to excel in world music. Now it DOES have the Best of World Music!"
