"If you're reading this I'll assume you know all about bluegrass and who these guys are. If so, the yes, it's as great as it seems. Wonderful sounding cuts of classic bluegrass by these amazing guys. If you don't know much about bluegrass musicians, all you need to know is JD Crowe (banjo), Bobby Hicks (fiddle), Jerry Douglas (Dobro) and Tony Rice (guitar) are all masters of their instruments. That's all there is to it. They are really the top of the line for their respective instruments. And it's not to say that Doyle Lawson isn't a wonderful mandolin player and isn't a perfect fit for the group. It suprised me how great of a player he actually is, something I never realized before. As in his own group, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, his singing always seems to overshadow his chops, and here he is a great counter to Rice's lead. So what you have is classic songs, top notch singing, and the masters of their respective instruments going all out. No studio magic here, no fancy effects, but tasteful hard-driving music from the dream team of Bluegrass."
