"This is a collection of live performances by two different editions of the Country Gentlemen, two different editions of the Seldom Scene, and the great mid-1970s edition of J.D. Crowe and the New South, featuring Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs, and Jerry Douglas. The songs are, by and large, the songs most readily associated with each of the groups, and for good reason. Nearly every song is strong, and the musicianship is, as would be expected, impeccable. There's lots to like here; my own favorites include Hickory Wind by the then-current (Phil Rosenthal) edition of the Seldom Scene, Old Train by the original Seldom Scene, the Jerry Douglas instrumental Fireball with the New South, and Fox On the Run by the Country Gentlemen."
