"Ok, Bonnaroo 2002 (vol 1) is awesome for people who are already into the jam scene (Phil Lesh's "Tennessee Jed," CLCFFB's "Locomotive Breath," Trey's "Last Tube"), with a few good ones for newbies (moe.'s "Captain America," WSP's "Tall Boy"). This is perfect for both. Containing the only known recording by Colonol Les Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains (the amazing Les Claypool with the always eclectic Buckethead), the Disco Biscuits playing "Mindless Dribble" backwards, and the Lil' Rascals Brass Band using tuba and timpani to play a reggae song. More mainstream jam bands like WSP, moe., Phish/Trey Anastasio, or the Dead aren't here, but Umphry's McGee and Karl Denton's Tiny Universe more than make up for it. By far the highlight is the Keller Williams Incident (Keller backed by the legendary String Cheese Incident for those who don't know) performing one of Keller's quirkiest songs, "Vacate." Fans of this song should pick up Keller's live album, "Loop," and hear the stripped-down version there and compare the two. Overall, this is an amazingly strong jam compilation, and everyone should check it out. Buy this first, then vol. 1."
