Synopsis

Album Description
"Butchering the Beatles"--featuring the BIGGEST, the BADDEST, the HEAVIEST all-star line-up ever assembled to honor what is arguably the greatest band ever--THE BEATLES. All-in-all, over 50 internationally known recording artists bring their unique bone-crushing slant to these remarkable songs. Produced by Grammy award-winning producer/guitarist Bob Kulick and ace engineer Brett Chassen, "Butchering The Beatles" features 12 new, a**-kicking versions of The Beatles' chart-topping hits including "Hey Jude," "I Feel Fine," and "Day Tripper," plus the more esoteric "Hey Bulldog," barked out by the legendary Alice Cooper and "Tomorrow Never Knows," uniquely interpreted by the iconic Billy Idol, alongside classic concept songs like "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "Magical Mystery Tour."When asked by Guitar Player magazine what possessed him to go all metal on The Beatles, Bob Kulick stated that, "Beatles songs are the Holy Grail. They're the best rock songs ever written. These new recordings are totally faithful, yet completely different. Billy Gibbons singing 'Revolution' or (Motorhead bassist) Lemmy singing 'Back In The USSR' are not exactly Paul McCartney or John Lennon. And of course, the guitar solo sections were lengthened to accommodate all the artists' solo styles."

CD Reviews

GREAT! PLEASE PUT OUT TEN MORE VOLUMES
F. Burock | 11/28/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The greatness of the Beatles can never be overestimated. To most people over 40 who have seriously listened to more than the same 25 songs am or fm radio plays, the distance between the Fabs and the next ten GREAT and influential groups(lets say in no specific order, Elvis, Stones, Sabbath, Floyd, Zeppelin, the Who, Beach Boys, Dylan, Hendrix and Chuck Berry) is equivalent to the Sun being followed by the planets and a few moons. They are the Standard, period. They did 209 songs, not all great, and probably at least another 50 great solo recordings between the 4 of them. The hard rock performers used here is the tip of the proverbial iceberg. I say release more of these, perhaps covering some solo stuff as well! Covers by talented musicians CAN NEVER go wrong if the songs are great. And these are the best.

One correction, to B.LYNCH; Revolution covered on this disc is the version from Hey Jude(US), not the White Album. The White LP includes Revolution #1(slow version) and Revolution #9. Know your material before you run your mouth and look silly."
One of the better tribute CDs...

"I like this disc. It has BAWLS!!! It's refreshing to see a headbanging Beatles tribute. There has been many Beatles tribute dics. The obvious best is The Rutles, but this one is up there with it!"
ROCK STARS PAYING TRIBUTE
Robert L. Swoffer Jr. | PORT HURON, MI 48060 | 01/28/2007

"The key word on this CD, is butchering, its Rock Stars playing BEATLE tunes with a new millenium twist and sound. Its a nice change from other tribute CD's were they try to sound like the original, its one of the better CD's I've purchase in awhile. Theres plenty of stand-out tracks: (Lucy in the Sky)w/ Geoff Tate--(I Saw Here Standing There)w/John Corabi--(Drive My Car)w/Kip Winger. Every song has a great twist, definitely worth the purchase. I highly recommend it. Bob Kulick did a great job of assembling this CD, with these awesome musicians. The only thing negative about this CD is the cheesy CD cover. Four guys in butcher coats, I mean I won't lose any sleep over it,but COME ON. Grab the CD today.
