Electro Latin Jazz

"This is one of those discs that allows the listener to sample a variety of laid back tunes that fall under the loose category of "chill out music." The tracks are all very good examples and fit into a jazzy Latin niche. IMO it is more Acid Jazz than Latin. The exception being most notably Chi Chi Peralta's contribution. The redo of "Riders on the Storm" by you should know who has the dreamy qualities that rise into somewhat of a Photekish groove, pushing the original song into an icey new interpretation. The disc is perfect for a relaxed mind, background music for the times of your life. "Cava del Rio" by Senza is your typical psuedo Brazilian music complete with vibes and a chorus reminiscent of Cal Tjader meets Sergio Mendes for a nice touch. There are several "Brazilian" sounding songs. Senza is featured again with "Take it Down," this time with a Herbie Mann feel for an easy going blend of electro jazz. "Snake Chancer" by Gobi Tribe has a world music feel that falls into more of an Asian Dub Foundation sound than a Latin mix, go figure. "Exotic Erotic" by Baptiste Love Rug is one of those mixes that is a synth laced snyncopated groove that is forgetable but you gotta love the title and their name. The Washington DC based duo of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, better known as Thievery Corporation contribute with "Barrio Alto" for a guitar inflected mix sounding a bit like St. Germain. The song fits easlily into the package. All in all this disc serves the listener well for exposure to the artists featured and to present an unobtrusive mix of songs for the times between and after the times of your life."
Finally A Great Chillout CD

"This CD has it all: mood, music and a really cool cover. Other "Various Artist" compilations disappoint due to lack of focus...they slap chillout in the title and give little thought to the actual musical content. Cabana Beach Club sets a vibe and then rides along its own undulating wave...there was a lot of thought behind this. This CD has a lot of new stuff as well as a cool remix of The Door's "Riders on the Storm" and tracks by Thievery Corporation and Nightmares on Wax. Even Chichi Peralta shows up in an Ibiza remix. I first heard this in an ultra-trendy restaurant in Miami... the server said people ask about it all the time. This is a must for fans of chillout with a global beat backdrop."
A Taste Of Ambient Trans Music...

"I picked this up recently on a whim and I'm glad I did. It's a good "chill" CD which takes the listener on a journey deep in the mind's eye. My only negative point is after track #11, it slowly turns more techno and kind of ruins the state of mind I was in when I first put it on."
