"First off: Please ignore the last review. They were looking for Energy 52's "Cafe Del Mar" (a high energy Trance record on the Hooj label)...not even close...What a great record! I already had owned Volume 2,4,5,6 and still needed 1 and 3 to complete my set. To be honest, I was a bit hesitant in getting vol.3 since it was the only one of the Cafe Del Mar series to be "domesticated" in the U.S. which normally means bad things. When I put this CD in for the first time I was just blown away at the beauty on this disc. Out of all the Cafe Del Mar series, this one has the smoothest blend of music. It is not as upbeat as 5 or 6 but it is more consistent and flows well. The first four tracks are a very relaxing set of ambient/balearic tunes that really elevate the listener. These tracks are not only relaxing but are very beautiful and deeply satisfying. I personally love Nova Nova's "Tones" (Track 2). It is a piano solo that moves in and out with sweeping emotion. Pat Meheny follows next with a nice island/flamenco/guitar track that really takes you away. Miro's earlier paradise, a slower more "enigma-esque" groove follows and brings beats into the picture so that others can follow while still maintaining that pensive, relaxed mood. Jose Padilla has weaved a web of magic on this disc that can only be "Cafe del Mar". I am continually amazed by Jose's eclectic taste in music. If you haven't bought any of the series, try this one if you'd like a mellow introduction to the series, or volume 5 or 6 for a more upbeat set. Really, they're all amazing and this is the ONLY compilation series I have ever heard such consistency on. Worth the heavy price tag for the rest of them. So here's my order of the whole series: 5,6,3,4,2,1."

"This CD was mentioned in an article about a celebrity, on a list of "favorite things". That intrigued me enough to listen to the sound bytes, and then, to buy it. Very calming music. I love it!"
Absolutely Fabulous

"When in Paris I discovered the compilations by Jose Padilla consisting of the various artists. I am overwhelmed with this musics ability to spiritually revive and heal my heart and mind. An international flavor bursting with intense vibes and strong rythmic potions to spurn all levels of consciousness. Cafe Del Mar CD's are medicine for the soul. Thank you!"

"I'm amazed that this is the first review, as this is a great compilation. To me this vol 3 along with vol 7 is the best of the cafe del mar series. Easy listening and a harmonious mix with some piano music a la cafe style, some light techno, a few dance tracks, some ambient and some jazzy tunes. Uplifting and worth listening to."
One of the best CDs ever
