"Casey Kasem Presents: The Long Distance Dedications compiles a splendid set of twenty elegant, romantic love songs that will touch many hearts. A long distance dedication is, of course, very romantic and it tugs at my heartstrings because it always hurts when two people in love must be far apart from each other. The quality of the sound on this CD is excellent and I like that artwork, too.
The album begins with one of my most favorite love songs, "Greatest Love Of All" performed by Whitney Houston. Whitney delivers this gracefully with all her heart and soul; just one listen proves it. The lush musical arrangement uses the percussion well and the keyboard work enhances the music even more. "Greatest Love Of All" is a timeless love song and it makes a wonderful start for this album. In addition, Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful" moves me with its beauty; Joe sings this with a lot of passion and it works on many levels at once. The arrangement with that elegant piano playing provides the perfect accompaniment as Joe Cocker sings this faultlessly.
"I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack has a distinct country flavor to it that charms me; Lee Ann's voice is as clear as a bell and she never sounded better, either! Lee Ann's incredible sense of timing lets her sing this really well. Listen also for Diana Ross and Lionel Richie to do a sublime job on their duet of "Endless Love;" "Endless Love" hit the airwaves big back when it was first released and it still gets time on the radio. Diana and Lionel make the perfect pairing for this passionate duet; it's clearly a major highlight of this album.
Elton John's "Daniel" is and always will be a timeless classic; the percussion sounds great and Elton John does this without ever letting go of a superfluous note! Jim Croce's "Time In A Bottle" stuns me with its beauty; this is nothing short of nirvana. Moreover, Linda Ronstadt & James Ingram take "Somewhere Out There" and make it powerful and yet touching with their sensitive rendition of this love ballad.
The immortal Louis Armstrong sings "It's A Wonderful World" with panache; he recorded this hit toward the end of his career. This number shows just how powerful Louis' delivery could be even in his later years. Louis Armstrong's rendition of "It's A Wonderful World" is truly one of my very favorite songs of all time. There's another gem in Olivia Newton-John's "I Honestly Love You." "I Honestly Love You" shines bright in Olivia's capable hands. She sings this with great sensitivity; and I'm very impressed.
"Three Times A Lady" by The Commodores will always be a classic; they put their stamp on this elegant and tender love song to make it all their own. The album ends strong, too, with Boyz II Men doing a great job on "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday."
Casey Kasem Presents: The Long Distance Dedications gives us a lot of great, great love songs that will never be forgotten. I highly recommend this album for people who enjoy love songs. There's not a dud in the bunch; and that's terrific.

"A nice collection of sentimental tunes, by the original artists.
Whenever I play this CD, it makes me think fondly of a girl I knew a long, long time ago.
Its a walk down memory lane; a bit of nostalgia.
