Three and half years, and I still LOVE this album!

"My mother bought this album for my son when he was born, but it has turned more into my own personal stress solution. I have listened to it possibly a hundred times now, and I have yet to grow tired of any of the tracks.



This album is not simply a bunch of "Irish" songs thrown together. The songs are truly Celtic, originating from Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, etc. The regional differences are palatable, and invoke a sense of worldliness.



I highly recommend this album for any new mom who has the slightest interest in things Celtic."

Real Celtic Music

"I actually find myself humming some of these songs occasionally, along with the songs from the other Ellipsis album Celtic Lullaby (which I prefer). This is an excellent CD for children, and adults with any taste for traditional music - I bought about a half-dozen albums with titles that were variations on "Celtic Lullaby," and this and it's companion take the prize. Of course, one doesn't need to be a Celt to enjoy this. If you're a derascinated Celt, however, and you want to get some exposure to a tradition that you've been robbed of, this is a good way (if this is part of your aim, also pick up "The Virgin's Lament (Caoineadhi Na Maighdine)" by Noirin Ni Riain).



No two songs on this CD or it's companion are recorded by the same artist, and many of the tracks are also found on another album by the recording artist (references to these are given in the liner notes, so if you like an artist, you can pursue it further). One or two (quite literally - only one or two) of the recordings could be more polished perhaps, but they never bothered me, who am fairly picky about these things.



The slipcase and cardboard foldout case are very nice, with the exception of the CD slipcase - it's a pocket of smooth cardboard, and I would have liked to have seen a traditional pop-in segment. No matter - very nicely done, and worthy of five stars.



Oh, and my daughter loves these, usually calms down to them when she's colicy, and otherwise does, in fact, fall asleep to them. Definitely five stars.
