"The year was 1976. Top 40, which decades later will be termed as Classic Rock and then as Oldies, played on the radio. Southern Rock and Disco was on every other channel, and the FM rock stations were beginning to rear their heads. I know, I was there...behind the microphone.Prime-time television shows such as The NBC Mystery Movie, The Streets Of San Francisco, Kojak, Baretta, Police Woman, and other 'COP' shows were being viewed by millions worldwide. The characters had their own identity and each show had its own identifying theme.Henry Mancini's 'The COP Show Themes' was born. Originally released on 8-track, cassette, vinyl, and finally on compact disc, this CD is a must for every Henry Mancini and cop show enthusiast. Henry Mancini's arrangements of these themes is the best that I have heard so far and the quality of the recordings is superb. Although it took me many years to finally obtain a copy of this CD, it was well worth the wait. Having been told by numerous domestic music media retailers that this RCA Records CD is long 'out-of-print', I discovered that it was still available through BMG Music in Spain through 1999. It was produced for CD release by Jordi Pujol (Fresh Sound Records) and the catalog number is 74321664972. Hopefully this information will assist you in locating your own copy of this CD, because it's more information than what I could 'pry out of' any retailer.Good luck in obtaining a copy of this CD for your very own. A few vintage recordings [8-track, cassette, and vinyl (LPs)] are still available for sale via the internet; however, as you and I both know, CD quality is by far more superior. If anything, whether it be tape, vinyl, or disc, you won't regret having your own copy of THE COP SHOW THEMES!"
