Synopsis

Album Description
E-Town Live is a compilation reflecting the diversity and outstanding performances by the artists that visit every week. E-Town, the nationally syndicated radio program, is heard on over 120 stations across the nation and is broadcast to 550,000 people every week! Produced on stage before a live audience, it's a unique variety show that combines live music with conversation and information about our environment and our communities. From the quintessential opener of James Taylor's "Copperline" to be-bopping with Bobby McFerrin & Voicestra to relaxing to Big Head Todd and the Monsters, E-Town Live takes you on the musical journey that we deliver each week. Throw in Ani DiFranco's musing on growing up and Steve Earle's take on the military and you get a social commentary, too! When we began working on this compilation, we, for the first time, really took a look at the body of recorded music that we'd gathered over the years. Not only was it a joy to go back and listen to so much great music, it was a reminder of the fact that E-Town is built on the support and cooperation of musicians.

CD Reviews

Inspired performances

"I have to credit Nick and Helen Forster and the folks at e-town for broadening my musical horizons. How often have you heard the lament: "There's nothing worth listening to on the radio any more?" E-town has introduced me to dozens of wonderful artists with real talent and something meaningful to say, and some of these are included here. This CD is a compilation of "greatest hits" from the show's first few years. Some of these performances are absolutely stellar: Lyle Lovett (with an all-star band), Richard Thompson, Ani DiFranco, Ted Hawkins, the Fairfield Four, Steve Earle, and Joan Osborne really sing their hearts out. Really, they're all exceptional, not a dud in the bunch.Maybe it's the altruistic nature of the show that brings out the best in their guests, maybe it's the Boulder Theatre, who knows? Whatever the source, these performances are truly inspired. Pick up this CD, and make your world just a little better."

"fantastic . . . gets better every time I listen, from James Tayolor's beautiful "Copper Line" to Cowboy Junkie's "Bhea's Song" this is an intense listen that covers all the bases. Sure to light up a nice drive down a lonely road."
