IS ANYBODY OUT THERE?

"Weeellll, since I have the dubious distinction of being the 1st reviewer of a CD that's been out for over 9 years and also has been out of "print" for several years, I'm obviously not talking about a hot commodity. But, anyway, as part of paying forward my debt to society, let me say that this is one of the best movie soundtracks out there. The creators obviously made a real effort to come up with a very good and VERY eclectic collection of music. Tracks range from the classic early rock of Carl Perkins (often covered by the Beatles) to the cutting-edge Southern Culture on the Skids.

I love finding new music worth listening to - and that's getting harder and harder to do. This CD has some great tracks that you probably have never heard. Unfortunately, you'll have to take my word for it since few are available as samples.

About the only drawback - if it really is one - is that there are a few tracks that consist of dialogue from the movie. They are actually pretty funny - as was the movie - but could be disconcerting to anyone expecting a typical music CD.

Amazingly enough - although this CD is out of stock almost everywhere, you can evidently get secondhand copies pretty darn cheap. Grab one. (I actually got a new copy from Japan.) It really should be a collector's item.

A few tracks aren't quite super-duper, but the overall originality and quality rates 4.5 stars."
