CD Reviews

Sasha rocks it again
12/06/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"this album is spectacular. when you listen to the songs flowing from one to another, you have no idea where the seams are; where one song ends and one song begins. you will find yourself lost in sasha's web of dreamy trance. the first cd starts off with a smooth, methodical beat and it turns into some of the best trance i have heard. it is different- not the mainstream anthems that you may have heard. the second cd picks up where the first leaves off. it reminds me of a friday night at Twilo in new york city. sasha has done it again."

"Sasha Power! Global Underground in Collaboration with Space comes out with this years DEFINITE mix.Sasha is back, this time with based on his epic set at Space. The first disc starts off with more of a mellow and very spacy blend of atmospheric sounds and pounding basslines. Unlike San Fran, this one is less progressive and more along the lines of Northern Exposure but alittle bit more pounding and body moving."It's Tantalizing Phuture-Phunk Frenzy weaving sunny dreams with an exlusive SCI-SYMPHONY... You Don't Need to hear the Jets in here, SASHA'S PLAYING HIS OWN ..." DOM PhilipsThe second side is darker and crazier. Starting with a very dark track by BT "Fibonacci Sequence", the listener is guided on a journey of chaos and destruction, blending in and out of heaven and hell. Finally the audience is treated to Sasha's Own "Xpander", a 10mins treat of breakbeat and feel good sounds. Building up and packing it in, the journey starts to venture in a more lighter and warm build up, going through another unrelease BT track - Mercury & Solace. Than switching paces with Junkie XL "Future In Computer Hell, Finally crashing down to Digweeds recent release under Bedrock - Heaven Scent.A mix definetely worth checking out. Includes a handy albumbook from his recent set a Space. Forget about waiting to go to Heaven, Sasha has the remedy for people wanting to float on air. Hopefully Digweeds turns out to be just as good."
This set blows away his San Francisco set

"While I found Sasha's San Francisco GU set to be an enjoyable and very polished romp through dance music of all genres, I think Sasha comes into his own here, truly distinguishing his style from the likes of anyone else. The first CD hooks you and the second pushes you over the edge, just as any great set should. Sasha knows how to move you, and the fact that most of these songs are unknown and better than a lot of more well-known songs shows that Sasha realizes that great sounds don't always have to come from popular artists. This is definitely my favorite set in the Global Underground series so far. Now how about a Paul Van Dyk 2-disc mix, Boxed?"
