"The brainchild of former Electric Skychurch member David deLaski and LA breakbeat native John Kelley, Ball of Waxx is home to many influential DJs-come-producers from the infamous Moontribe milieu. Groove Closet collects their downtempo gems into a nocturnal ritual of innovative sounds ranging from the desert to the sea. DeLaski's own Lord Runningclam sets the mood with "Desert Dress," combining gentle guitar and stark beats overlaid with sensual vocals. Running throughout with muscular yet intimate grooves, Brian Saitzyk's Eastern Sun and Numatic Soul projects, Lucky Wander Boy, Desert Dwellers, DJ Brian's Seed project, Tha Roman and Rara Avis, each lay down sweet electro hydroponics that conjure comparisons from Kruder & Dorfmeister to Mr. Velcro Fastener. It's forward-thinking electronica still in touch with its communal soul, epitomized perfectly by the album's closer, "Rapture at Sea," a rare beauty by John Kelley and Eastern Sun that will literally have you hitting the repeat button countless times in a row. -Yoshi Roads"
