The source of the Nile

"Not as good as the first. Some I was already familiar with: Billy Joe Royal, Johnny Kidd, Dells, Sir Mack Rice, McCoys, Neil, Great Society, Don & Dewey and Berry. Liked them already. A few of the remaining songs are good but a lot of them are blah. It's not going to hurt if you buy this but if you don't have Volume One and you're debating between them, go for the first.
As is my custom, I never read other reviews until I write mine. I see that the other 2 feel pretty much the same. I guess we're right."

"I managed to listen to samples on another site. Boy, best to keep the samples off this one. I really liked the first volume, but c'mon now, there is no shortage of original versions that they have to resort to this: Ace, you could have done a bunch for the 70s. Examples:
Gypsy Woman (orig: Impressions /later: Brian Hyland) / Rockin Pneumonia and Boogie Flu ( Orig: ? / Johnny Rivers) / Who Do You Really Think That You Are ( orig: Candlewick Green / later: Bo Donaldson) Mocking Bird ( Orig:? / Later James Taylor Carley Simon) / Billy Don't Be Hero (Orig: Paper Lace / later: Bo Donaldson) / Mr Big Stuff (orig:? / later Jean Knight) /Right Place Wrong Time (org? / later Dr. John) Blinded By the Light (org: Springsteen / later: Manfred Mann) Mama Told Me Not to Come (Randy Newman or Eric Burdon(really!) /later: 3 Dog Night) You're 16(orig:? / later: Ringo Starr / Locomotion (org: Little Eva / later: Grand Funk) Get Ready (org: Temptations / later: Rare Earth) Going to a GoGo (org: Miracles later: Stones) / 10 Inch Record (org:? / later: Aerosmith)...if I think of anymore, I'll added `em.....
Hush was good, and Somebody to Love, that's about it.... could not get California Dreaming, but I feel I am not missing much...."
Exactly what the title implies...
