Product DescriptionIn the 1950's, Memphis, Tennessee and the local Tri-State area seemed to act as a catalyst for so many things such as 'King' Cotton, The Civil Rights movement, a polyglot of religions, races and creeds, but perhaps, above all, for a stunning pot-pourri of music from supercharged R&B to plaintive Hillbilly, to cotton patch Blues, to the intense emotion of Gospel and the tough sounds of Rock 'n' Roll and Rockabilly. It was all there and it was an Alabama man - Sam Phillips - who was the first to realise that so much talent needed an outlet and duly founded the Memphis Recording Service, the results of which have become history. Many other local entrepreneurs attempted to emulate Sam's success with varying results. Some Companies foundered after only two or three releases, others released a credible catalogue's worth of 45's, whilst a few, such as Fernwood and Meteor would actually enter the Billboard Charts with sizeable hits. This CD represents a documentation of one of those smaller, highly individual record companies to whom we owe so much... Vaden Records. Founded by husband and wife Arlen and Jackie Vaden in Trumann, Arkansas in the late 1950s. 35 hot rockin' tracks make their CD debuts here, with the usual detailed sleeve notes and label discography.
