Synopsis

Album Description
Michael Douglas (Wall Street, Basic Instinct) stars in this charming, off the wall comedy as a mental patient searching for treasure in suburban California. The film was a major critical success at the Sundance Festival. Composer Dave Robbins has a wide range of film credits on major releases that include Dead Man Walking, Bob Roberts and Savior. The score to King Of California captures the quirky atmosphere of the film with a distinctive American roots style and features a song by Jolie Holland, the former Be Good Tanyas member, whose music has been acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Esquire, Chicago Sun-Times and many more. Also includes music from Yma Sumac, the legendary Peruvian queen of exotica.

"too bad that much was omitted from an otherwise fine album. many of the artist represented in the film do not appear on this CD. this album is mainly instrumental music composed by Mr. Adams who seems to owe a debt to Jack Nietzche. i was looking forward to hearing all the artist and at some point we may perhaps have a choice of both the incendental music which dominates this CD, and another CD containing the ecletic mix of artist featured in this film. this has been done with other films such as Magnolia."
