Synopsis
Album Description The male half of The Eurythmics released this film soundtrack as his first solo album in 1989. Though the movie was pretty obscure, this album was not, as it features not only a remixed version of "Here Comes The Rain Again", but it also featured the saxophone stylings of The Netherlandse Candy Dulfer on the title track, who was fresh from working with Prince on the soundtrack of "Batman" where she was featured on the track "Partyman". The title track became a pop hit around the world (including the US). Similar CDs

CD ReviewsI can't believe how long it took me to find this CD! 04/05/1999 (4 out of 5 stars) ""Lily was Here," an obscure German drama in the vein of "La Femme Nikita," has a jazzy soundtrack accompaniment. Dave Stewart, better known as the music half of the Eurythmics, displays his knack for moving the movie along with very moody tracks, featuring Candy Dulfer on saxophone (in one of her first musical appearances before recording on her own). He manages to create a sound all his own. Also on-hand is Annie Lennox, singing a somwhat acoustic version of "Here Comes the Rain Again," this song alone makes the soundtrack worth the cost, evoking a completely different level of emotion from Lennox's performance." An Obscure Soundtrack Treasure Rediscovered ! Armando M. Mesa | Chandler, AZ | 02/07/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "I saw the foreign film Lily Was Here back in the early 90's. The film itself was mesmerizing. Like a previous reviewer said it was reminiscent of La Femme Nikita despite the fact Lily Was Here came out a year before !The musical soundtrack contains the smash hit saxophone instrumental Lily Was Here as performed by female premiere sax player Candy Dulfer. There is also a soulful and moving bare bones acoustical version of the Eurythmics'1984 hit Here Comes the Rain Again as sung by Annie Lennox. It is a VERY rare version, probably not to be found anywhere else. It has a very live yet intimate and atmospheric sound ! The entire album score was written and performed by the other half of the Eurythmics duo Dave Stewart. To hear him produce and perform this soundtrack is surely a departure from anything he did while with the Eurythmics; this soundtrack contains no cold synthesized electronic sounds. The overall tone of the project is close to even resembling the French soundtrack La Femme Nikita as performed by Eric Serra. Yet, Lily has a very distinct and rich ambient moody sound all to itself. It is a very gripping and compelling musical score !...One of the best scores I have heard in years. Just listen to the incredible acoustical guitar work accomplished by Stewart !!! Some of his best..."
