"If you've seen "The Long Good Friday," you know the value of Francis Monkman's music in the film's overall success-- its propulsive beats move the story along and act as an enriching element. The brilliant opening and closing themes, with their glitzy sax sound, echo the flash of Harold Shand's crime organization, all sheen and flash on the outside, but raw and violent on the inside. The **** film features a **** soundtrack, and it can be listened to time and again (I just put it on again for the 100th time last week-- still sounds fresh.) Warning: one track is a reggae song featuring vocals by Bob Hoskins; those without strong stomachs should avoid. All else is sterling-- buy it."
Loved it!
