Many songs don't live up to the name...

"I'd hoped this installment of Disky's "Long Versions" series would have two 12" gems I've been looking for on CD--John Waite and Dr. Hook. However, "Missing You" by John Waite is an EDIT of the 12", running 45 seconds shorter!!!! WHY????? I was happy to find the full length 7" of Marillion, since "Lavender" is a very different edit on the full length LP by the band.
There are also many songs that just didn't have "long" versions or 12" versions, and sometimes, the 12" versions weren't used, as with Cutting Crew's "I Just Died in Your Arms". None of the discs are much longer than 50 minutes in total! The song selection ranges from power pop ballads to R&B, which is very cool for true music lovers. Also, many of these songs were not popular here in the US, but big hits overseas. For instance, it would have been nice to have the 12" version of "heart and soul" by t'pau, the 12" of "shattered dreams" by Johnny Hates Jazz, or the 12" of Too Late for Goodbyes" by Julian Lennon instead of the tracks on here. Oh well.
