"This is a solid, albeit eclectic, collection of some of the biggest hits of the decade and it clearly shows the diversity of material to hit the charts. While the Seventies is probably most remembered for unleashing disco, there's not a single dance track to be found here. [However, it should be noted that except for Roxy Music's 1976 hit "Love Is the Drug," all of these songs were recorded between 1969 and 1975. (Joe South's "Games People Play" was actually a hit in 1969 and, therefore, really should have been included on the equally excellent LOST & FOUND IN THE SIXTIES.)]
There is a little of everything, from the country rock of Linda Ronstadt and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to the power pop of the Raspberries and Sweet to the singer/songwriter stylings of Jim Croce, Melanie and Don McLean. All but a handful of these songs were top ten hits, and nine of them topped the charts and ten were million-sellers.
Track for track, this is one of the best collections of 70s music available. [Running time - 78:03] HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"
