"As a youngster in the back of my Mom and Dad's 1969 Vista Cruise Station Wagon, I remember listening to these tunes all the way from our Winston-Salem, NC home to our rented cottage at Myrtle Beach, SC. It was the mid-seventies, and my Dad was still playing the music that provided the score for his college days - an era that had officially expired a little more than a decade before. What I have come to learn is that this assortment of R&B tracks is a seminal example of the "Beach Music" tunes that spawned the dance "The Shag" that ruled the NC and SC coasts for the better part of the 1950s and 1960s. If you have no interest in its links to a sliver of local history, it can easily stand on its own as an R&B compilation. These sunshine-soaked tunes will provide a good accompanyment to any summer barbeque."
