A great jazz score

"Unfortunately, this disc doesn't sound as if it's derived from the very best possible elements. But this doesn't matter - the point is the music. This is among the very select group of truly
brilliant jazz scores - tense, moody, angular, wistful, evocative. Lewis wrote music of stunning complexity for what is a very simple story: a heist gone wrong, sabotaged by the rifts between the men trying to carry it out. The orchestra is comprised almost entirely of jazz luminaries, among them Milt Jackson and Bill Evans. if you are any sort of a jazz afficionado, you really must pick this one up. (Also of interest is the Modern Jazz Quartet's album, which was released in 1959, of selections from the film.)"
