Each band involvedÑfrom established acts like Gatsby's American Dream, Apollo Sunshine and Say Anything featuring Saves The Day's Chris Conley, to newcomers like Rachel Cantu, the Casual Lean and Down To Earth ApproachÑhad complete freedom and unconditional support when choosing which Dylan song to recreate and how to make it their own. From the hip-hop coolness of P.O.S.'s version of "All Along The Watchtower" to the schizophrenic cacophony of "I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Met)" by Panama Jerk, Paupers, Peasants, Princes & Kings is as diverse and unique as Dylan, himself. The Honorary Title's acoustic homage! to "A Simple Twist Of Fate," features vocals so tender and true to the original, Dylan might want to issue a paternity test for lead singer Jarrod Gorbel. "If Not For You," interpreted by Boston noise-core band Read Yellow might not be immediately recognizable to the version first heard on New Morning, but it's imagination and offbeat instrumentation surge new life into an otherwise mellow and meditative track. "this record is the end of the world. when the songs of the greatest artist of the 20th century are defiled in the worst way. these bands dont dont anything about anything. these covers are among the worst ever in the history of the world, and it is a shame they are covers of the best songs in the history of the world. these bands are wretched. they have disrespected dylan to the highest degree. among the worst tracks on this record: dont think twice, extraordinarily whiny yelling annoying, my back pages: way to cover a cover you idiots, couldnt even be creative with the song and do it your own way, you re-created the byrds' cover, but just defiled that as well, if not for you: this band is probably the highest offense on this album, the distorted annoying guitars, do an immeasureable dishomage to a great work of art. lastly, the man in me. you people are horrible. great disappointment."
These song arrangements are truly awful.

"
On most of the songs in this compilation, the musicians' goal appears to have been to race through the song as quickly as possible without any attempt to understand or reflect the meaning of the song. These are Dylan songs, for chrissake. The lyrics are important.
In any event, I regret buying this, and I'm sure I'll never listen to any of it ever again.

"Wasn't there just a crappy comp of crappy emo bands covering Bob Dylan? How many of these do we really need? Except for a somewhat clever hip hop version of All Along The Watchtower, this is complete garbage."
There are some decent covers here but...

"This is an overall terrible CD, but some of the covers on here are slightly redeeming.
Jim Ward, David Moore, and Rachel Cantu are extremely respectful to the songs and more or less do it justice. You can almost feel a little of Dylan channeling these three.
P.O.S. does an interesting tribute with a remix of All Along the Watchtower. Not great, but worth listening to.
Say Anything's cover of The Man In Me was not fantastic, but was by far better then anything else the rest of the bands managed to come up with.
The Casual Lean's version of Sara is nice to listen to, but with that song, is it really worth listening to if it isn't Dylan? That's his personal message to Sara Dylan. It's a good cover, but a bad choice in song. I much would have rather preferred hearing a cover of Desolation Row by this band because they were by no means bad.
But the album has some atrocious covers on it. I love Bob Dylan to the very core and these songs are a disgrace.
Simple Twist of Fate, one of my favorite songs, is absolutely terrible. I doubt this band had ever listened to Dylan before covering this song because they don't understand him.
Limbeck does Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You from Nashville Skyline. It's not horrendous, but it's not far from it. I don't recommend it.
This version of My Back Pages is a bad Byrds cover and quite frankly this is another song I don't like being covered because this is one of Dylan's most personal songs. Only truly gifted bands such as The Byrds could really pull off a cover of such a personal song.
I just recently bought New Morning, and even though I'm not thrilled by it, If Not For You was a pretty good song on it. But on this album it's abysmal. Horrifyingly bad.
Lastly, Gatsby's America and Panama Jerk should never be allowed near a Bob Dylan CD again...unless it's to listen and listen only. Because there covers were god awful.
Don't buy it. Download the decent ones from iTunes."
