(5 out of 5 stars)
"Here are forty six songs on two CDs, twenty three on each disc, all from Positiva. You've seen the CD singles. The cover art they use on them, the plus sign inside the circle with the artist name in bold and the song name below it, haven't you? This is in celebration of ten years of Positiva. I tell ya, I'm glad for these people from the UK compiling this up. I don't care if it cost me over $30 (Anything from the UK costs one and a half times as much as the prices in the US.), it was worth it to me.
Both CDs are unmixed. Disc one has songs like "Groovejet" by DJ Spiller. This song had plenty of success. The song was heard in the "Osmosis Jones" soundtrack. This song even went into competition with Posh Spice's "Out Of My Mind" and won. That's what it said in the booklet. This disc has "I Like To Move It" by Reel 2 Real feat The Mad Stuntman. It's been heard in a lot of places in the US, including daytime radio. There's also "The Bomb (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind)" by The Bucketheads. The percussion and brass makes it sound like a Latin dance song, accept these guys are really from New York. Another track on this is "Free At Last" by Simon. This song features Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech. I enjoyed hearing Ruffneck's "Everybody Be Somebody" feat Yavahn. The male vocalist in this song sounds like a mad man. He shouts out "EVERYBODY!!!.... BE SOMEBODY!!!" like a mental patient. The female vocalist remains calm throughout the song. Adam F's "Circles" and Shy FX's "Shake Your Body" are both fast songs on disc one that really keep me awake. I truly like "Circles". There's also Barbara Tucker's "Beautiful People", Disco Evangelists "De Niro (The Journey)", Trisco's "Musak", Moony's "Dove (I'll Be Watching You)", Exoterix's "Void", and more on disc one.
Disc two has songs like "Seven Days And One Week" by BBE. This is a classic. A song about two weeks in three and a quarter minutes. I like two weeks off. Who doesn't? Paul van Dyk's remix of Binary Finary's "1998" is in here. No matter what year the name of the song is ("1998", "1999", "2000", etc.), it's still the same song. Just with different synthesizers and such for each song. "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay's in it (Yay!). When I was on a cruise to Canada back in 2000, I danced to this song in the disco at the bottom deck. I knew they were gonna play it. It wasn't just heard all over nightclubs and discos. It was everywhere, even on the radio. What's also on here that made the radio? Lasgo's "Something". That was a great song throughout 2002. I think it made number one in Spain. There's also Aurora's "Ordinary World" on disc two of the album. This was originally a Duran Duran song from 1993. Aurora's version was released in 2000. I've danced to this song playing Dance Dance Revolution. We've also got Lange's edited remix of DJ Sakin & Friends' "Protect Your Mind". The composition was taken from the theme song to "Braveheart" composed by James Horner. I gotta give Lange a lot of credit for that. If it wasn't for Lange, this song would've been nothing. There's also "Carte Blanche" by Veracocha. The production work in "Carte Blanche" was done by Ferry Corsten. His song "Punk" is on here as well. Ferry Corsten's just plain talented. I wanna fly to his home town of Amsterdam. I also like Ayla's "Ayla". If I were putting a soundtrack for a video game together and there was a tropical island stage, I'd have to use this song because it's got tropical flavor. Marc Et Claude's "La" is in it. This song was released in 1997. I last saw MeC working with Radikal Records. Disc two also has Vengaboys' "Up And Down", Brainbug's "Nightmare", Fragma's "Toca's Miracle", Storm's "Storm", Barthezz's "On The Move", and more.
I hope Positiva's enjoying their tenth anniversary. Let's hope this record label lasts for a long time. Hope they don't go out of business like Hooj Choons did. I'm so sorry for those guys at Hooj Choons. Anyway, this album's great. Keep up the good work Positiva. I wanna see more good singles. I'll buy "A Score Of Dance" in 2013 if there'll ever be such album."
