Saudade Do Futuro is a Celluloid Tribute to the Unique Art Form of Improvisational Rhyming that One Encounters Almost Exclusively in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Form Pre-dates We Americans Know as Rap Or "Throwin' Down" from Urban/Afro-american Culture, the Brazilian Version is Rooted in the Nordestino Culture of Repente. A Distinctive Difference Between Rap and Repente is that the Repente Involves a Greater Degree of Tongue Twisting and is Usually More Political as Well as Humorous. All of the Poetry is Created and Recited on the Spot! the Practitioners of this Art Form, Or Repentistas, Are Common on Sao Paulo's Urban Boulevards. The Modern Repente is Presented in Many Variant Forms, Incorporating Tambourine Or Other Instruments, Duos of Repentistas Alternating Rhymes in Competition, Dancers who Improvise on the Spot and Repentistas who Actually Sing their Lyrics.
