Simply breathtaking

"SIRENES: THE BEAUTY OF THE FEMALE VOICE is a compilation of female artists put together by Sleepthief's Justin Elswick and Russ Elliot of Musical Discoveries. I bought this album when I heard a sample of Sleepthief's contributing track "Skimming Stones" with Kirsty Hawkshaw and of course immediately fell in love with the song. The rest of the album is just as enchanting as the Sleepthief song. The music ranges from ambient/pop to folk/pop. There is even a hint of jazz like on "Bonfires" by Blue Fondation. The female vocalists on the album all are talented singers. A few of them have been known to have worked with Justin Elswick as well as my favorite ambient/pop act Delerium like Kirsty Hawkshaw and Kristy Thirsk. Their voices are gentle with a whispery quality. I enjoy every song on the album but I am particularly fond of "One Last Cigarette" (Echostream), "Skimming Stones" (Sleepthief w/Kirsty Hawkshaw), "Out There"(Kristy Thirsk), and "Here and Now"(Tara McLean). All of the songs flows nicely together. Not one song sounds out of place. If you love Sleepthief and Delerium, SIRENES is an album certainly worth checking out."

"A veritable "who's who" of beautiful female talents! Just an AMAZING collection! There are just SOOOOO many great voices to choose from! All around a great selection to keep at the top of the playlist for months to come!

My personal favorites are Sleepthief/Kirsty Hawkshaw, Shelley Harland, Zoë Johnston, Kristy Thirsk, Sophie Barker, Lisbeth Scott ... but I must say the other artists who are "new to me" are quickly drawing me into their craft, one measure at a time!!!

All around an Über-Fantastic collection!"
