Album DescriptionSoma Records move into their fifteenth year with the annual Soma Compilation. 2005 has been a vintage one for the label and the highlights have been collected and compiled on this double album. This is the first time that the label has released a mixed version of its yearly compilation and Funk D'Void has delivered a stunner. Disc one appears in the traditional unmixed format and features the best of the year. Soma favorites Slam, Funk D'Void (alongside Phil Kieran) and Silicone Soul are joined by new label artists Alex Smoke, Vector Lovers and Hystereo while remixes come courtesy of Ewan Pearson, Marc Houle, Wighnomy Brothers, Martinez, and Soul Mekanik. Sounds too good to be true? Well it is. Kicking off with Vector Lovers magical 'Tokyo Glitterati', the collection moves through Alex Smoke's sublime deep vocal excursion 'Don't See The Point' into minimal territory with Funk & Phil's 'Black Worm', Minus man Marc Houle's masterful mix of Slam's 'Kill The Pain' and the outstanding Wighnomy Brothers mix of Slam featuring Tyrone's Palmers 'This World'. A Silicone Soul triple-header follows with the pick of the remixes from their recent 'Staring Into Space' album. 'Under A Werewolf Moon' gets a revamp from man of the moment Martinez, Soul Mekanik house up 'Feeling Blue' and Ewan Pearson electro-charged dub of 'The Poisoner's Diary' is a dancefloor burner. The electro theme continues with Vector Lovers rapturous remix of Slam's Human and moves into Alex Smoke's homage to hoover techno with 'Brian's Lung'. Hystereo close the first installment with the frenzied 'Validity Revision'. Disc two is mixed by the legendary Funk D'Void and features his pick of Soma's 2005 output including Alex Smoke, Slam, Hystereo, Vector Lovers, Silicone Soul and Repeat Repeat. Also included on this mix is an exclusive new track by Funk and Phil called 'Phat Ph*ck'.
