CD Reviews

"When She Danced With Me, Our Hearts Were Free..."
L. Shirley | fountain valley, ca United States | 06/08/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This review refers to "Stealing Home: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" CD(Atlantic Recording)..

Okay, so the first thing you want to know is why did I go 4 stars for this beautiful album that has a 5 star selection and performances? Only because it is too short! 32 minutes is not nearly long enough. Even if they would have added more of the score of the "Stealing Home" theme music I would still have been happily swaying to the music. The CD at this time, costs more then the DVD, shouldn't we get a little more time with it.(Especially since music is easily obtained these days from other sources.)

Now that I've got that off my chest I want to say..I LOVE the music from "Stealing Home"; a film about life(and baseball) that once seen, will always stay with you. The selection is a mix of nostalgic numbers that set the mood for the era of the young Bill, Katie and Alan Applebee, some moving instrumentals of the theme music by David Foster, and of course the one that makes it worth the price of admission alone;"And When She Danced" , the gorgeous love theme.

Bookended by instrumentals it opens and closes with the "Stealing Home" Theme and "Katie's Theme" Both written and Performed by Foster exquisitely.Go back in time, to a time of innocence with "Sherry",'Sherry Bay yay Bee'(sorry I couldn't resist singing out loud!),by the Four Seasons, "Poison Ivy" by The Nylons, "Great Balls Of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis",and "Bo Diddley" by Bo Diddley(of course). Those will definitely have you moving and singing along. The Everly Brothers' "All I Have To Do Is Dream", is as wonderful as it always was, and is a treat to hear anytime! "And When She Danced" written by Foster and performed as a lovely duet by Foster and Marilyn Martin, and the "Home Movies" track, may actually evoke a lump in your throat if you have seen the film. There are 11 tracks in all.(the buying info has a complete list, but list some of the artists on the wrong songs)

This is an album that stands on it's own as some great stuff even if you haven't seen the film. But if you have seen it, you better have the film on hand. If you listen to this album you will want to view the film again!

So even though it is too short, I would still recommend it. The music is so good, it's one that stands up to many repeat playings.

"Go back in time, to a place in your mind, to the one who knew, a part of you, that you just couldn't find..."

Enjoy....Laurie

Favorite Movie

"I first saw this movie when i was 12. At first, when i rented it, i didn't think that i would like it, but i was proved wrong. When i watched it, it just transported me to the 60s. I loved the movie and bought it. This is a must see movie. I know that i could watch it over and over and never get tired of it. The soundtrack is wonderful, it has great oldies, and some other wonderful songs written by David Foster."
Relive the movie with each song

"I have seen this movie several times and never tire of it. Every time I listen to this soundtrack I envision during exactly what part of the movie each song was played. It's a wonderful collection of music, from oldies to beautiful and moving instrumentals. My favorite is the love theme "And When She Danced" that you will never hear on any radio station, but that's the way it is with a lot of great songs. Even if you've never seen the movie, you're sure to enjoy this collection of music, and I guarantee that once you listen to the music, you will want to see the movie."
