Product DescriptionHere at Jasmine, we are always looking to broaden the scope of our catalogue by bringing you a taste of the delightfully different, and this month, we are returning to the spotlight a sub-genre of 20th Century Americana that may have shape shifted once or twice in its time, but that has never really gone away. Once Rural America's favourite Saturday night pastime, square dancing also crossed over to the UK, where it was incredibly popular from the end WWII until the mid 1950s and where it still maintains a hardcore of aficionados in dance clubs all over the country. Made in the late 1940s and early 1950s by the bands of two of Hillbilly music's flagship artists, Cliffie Stone and Carson Robison, the recordings in our collection embrace most of the primary dances, and will be within the capabilities of novice and expert alike. All tracks feature easy to understand calls and the CD begins with a little basic instruction to ease even the shyest dancer onto the floor. Re-mastered as always from the finest available sources, there are very few square dancing CDs in the marketplace - which should make this one a mandatory purchase for anyone who fancies a quick promenade or do-si-do!
