"...WRONG!! This is OLD SKOOL - Comprendes?! M-O-O-N-S-H-I-N-E! Not familiar with the label?...Start payin' attention...All the best DJ's come from here...THESE ARE YOUR ROOTS!! just playin'! i'm no one's mom...only 30...& love my music...& tryin' help someone who may be drowning in the relentless, ever-expanding circle of trance albums...'Trance This', 'Trance That', 'Blah-blah-blah Trance'...CRAP it is, too!...Well, a lot of it...So, i've left a few reviews the last couple days and hope someone will find themselves excited with some great c.d.'s their friends don't have. I don't plan on being a regular reviewer -- just had to replace some discs too played to even upload! So go on...go find 'Sounds from the Underground' (Teri Bristol & Psychobitch)...and 'All Mixed Up' ('Keoki')...and this one right here...and 'I.C.U. Vol.1 Live' (Kimball Collins)...and if anyone knows this album, please let me know who/what it is: Its a red c.d. with a black bio-hazard symbol on the front and no writing or very small writing...had it, lost it, and never knew what it was but it was very good...one of them trance compilations!! [...]"

Worth owning...even if you only "kinda" like trance.

"Rising High Records is one of the major labels for good quality hard trance (alongside Superstition, Harthouse and Flying Rhino, to name a few). Many trance tracks that are now considered classics have come from Rising High's stable (The Hypnotist--"The House Is Mine", Dominatrix (UK)--"Possession", etc.) This compilation is worth owning for this reason...and several others:--The first track is the anthemic HUMATE (HYOO-mate) and RABBIT IN THE MOON collaboration "East" (listed on this CD as the Southern Stimulation remix, but also found elsewhere as the Opium Den mix). This track sweeps you up from nowhere and slowly, teasingly builds into a solid bassline-founded groove (which always reminds me of New Order's "Blue Monday" for some reason). Then it proceeds to add more percussive bits and exotic, swirling and swooping synths to the mix until the whole thing climaxes in a breakdown that will make the most jaded technoficionado crack a grin. Short form? YOU NEED THIS SONG IN YOUR COLLECTION.--ART OF TRANCE's "Octopus" is one of those rare songs that is EXACTLY as its title describes it...a slithering, menacing beast from the deep. And the build and drop near the end is almost like opening a window in a room that you hadn't realized was so stuffy. I mean that in a good way.--SOUND ENFORCER's "Re-Enforcement 6" is a serious, no-nonsense high speed workout that hits the ground running and never slows down. Play THIS for your aerobics class.--DOMINATRIX (UK)'s "Possession" is included, but as a remix by trance heavyweight BLU PETER. The original is a classic, but this is just...it's like being in a centrifuge machine. A whirling dervish captured in music.--TANZMUSIK's "Cainern" is a perfect end to...pretty much anything. I'm surprised that no one has ever used it for film credits. An icy 4 note piano line, augmented by an ominous swirling, glistening string chord sequence, and topped off with a kick drum that goes WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP. Mmmmmmmmm.You get all this and more...and even better, IT'S UNMIXED! You actually get to hear every track FROM START TO FINISH!!! Who says you can't appreciate music anymore?"
