UHURU is Swahili and means "Freedom" - The UHURU-Worldmusic-Festival sees itself as a multicultural music event, as a mediator between different music style in the area of the so called Ethnomusic. It is our pleasure, that the 2nd UHURU-Worldmusic-Festival was recorded as a CD. We are convinced that, through the Interesting combination of musicians, that changed Weissenstein for 3 days into a very special place with their fascinating voices - a very precious documentation was made. The mood was as good as the previous year and the offered workshops - such as African chanting, yodel or choir-singing, percussion basics of Balafons or Didgeridoo, were fully booked. The basic theme of the year 1995 "Voices, Voix, Stimmen" served the whole festival as a guide. Experiments with new fusions have just as much recognition as traditional works. Our concern is, to find a way to reach people and music of the various cultures, which is our contribution to the understanding and tolerance between humanity.
