Some rare on cd tracks, but all appear to be taken from viny

"I purchased this compilation largely because I wanted the 12" mix of Young & Company's "I Like (What You're Doing To Me)" on cd. Well, it's obvious that this track was taken from a vinyl 12" single and not a master tape, and the vinyl was pretty scratched. The intro before the beat comes in is fairly quiet and the surface noise of the vinyl is very audible.
Though I didn't listen as closely to all of the other tracks, I think that most (or perhaps all) of them are also "needle drops." Sure, there are some songs on here that haven't appeared regularly on cd, so if you want those songs and don't already have the original vinyl, then these comps aren't so bad. If you're hoping to find scratch-free sounding versions on cd, however, then you should give this title a pass.
Also notable is that some of the tracks aren't quite the mixes I would expect, though this is perhaps due to different mixes being originally issued in England (where these discs were compiled) versus the U.S. For example, Evelyn King's "I'm In Love" has a strange ending that I've never heard before; it's definitely not the U.S. 12" version but maybe this version was released on 12" vinyl somewhere else.
All in all, I could only recommend this title to disco fanatics like me who want some of these tracks and have been unable to find or afford the original vinyl. I'm glad to finally get the full-length version of the Young & Company song, even if it is obviously lifted from a well loved copy of vinyl."
