Synopsis

Product Description
MovieScore Media's first 2008 release is an exciting horror/thriller score with a modern edge, composed by up and coming composer Michael Wandmacher for the Gideon Raff feature The Killing Floor, released on DVD on January 8. Wandmacher's previous film scores include From Justin to Kelly, Cry Wolf and Max Keeble's Big Move and he has also scored the video games based on Dreamworks' animated hit films Over the Hedge and Madagascar. His edgy score for The Killing Floor fuses acoustic instruments with modern electronic elements, creating a pulsating and ominous atmosphere with a lot of growing tension and intense action sequences. ""Juxtaposing music cues that utilize bizarre string techniques and detailed electronics with sumptuous themes and driving ostinato motifs highlights the cat-and-mouse framework of the plot,"" explains Michael Wandmacher. ""A small ensemble of strings was used in two separate sessions to record specific effects for the score. Dozens of experimental and weird tones came from these dates. Much of it is very quiet and close, like bugs on your back at night. Also, as I like to do with each project, a specific sound was created for and used only in this score. It is the odd reversed-but-not-reversed lo-fi piano. My music editor likes to call it the 'piano bubble'."" The film itself won top prize at the Malibu International Film Festival, and has been released theatrically in several European countries.
