Product DescriptionAn album of music for a special day. Use this lovely collection of organ music for church weddings to make your own personal choices for your own celebration - and listen to it afterwards as an atmospheric reminder of a unique moment in your life. From Bach to Wagner, there's something to suit everybody. Inside the booklet there's plenty of advice on how to choose music to suit your mood and style and to make sure that another important element of your special day can be just that bit more personal. Music is important to the success of every wedding. It creates a sense of expectation before the service, accompanies the bride on the most important walk of her life, ushers in a mood of calm reflection during the signing of the register, and brings everyone to his or her feet for the final procession down the aisle. Classical music in particular has the ability to create the perfect atmosphere for each stage of the service, and this recording brings together a selection of the finest organ music to have graced wedding services over the last hundred years. With the help of this recording, you can make a selection of music for your wedding based on your own listening experience. (And after the service, the CD remains a pleasant reminder of the great day itself). For convenience, we've divided the music up into three sections: music for the entrance of the bride, during the signing of the register, and finally, music for the happy couple's triumphant procession down the aisle. Why not just start by listening to the music for its atmosphere and the different moods it creates? You may want to make a grand entrance into the church, in which case choose something with 'trumpet' in the title. A more stately entrance may be suggested by The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, which is graceful but distinctly festive in character. Midway between are the Handel Overture and the Air, both from the 'Water Music', while for a traditional entrance piece you might choose Wagner's Bridal Chorus. For the signing of the register we have included calm and tuneful music like Bach's much-loved Air on the G string and Sheep may safely graze. To bring the service to a brilliant conclusion there is everything from the jubilant Hallelujah Chorus to the less-well known Grand March from Verdi's opera 'Aida'. Of course, your personal taste and feelings are the most important thing on your wedding day and, if you like the sound of a particular piece but want it at a different point during the service from the section to which we have assigned it, don't worry: just move it! For example, Sheep may safely graze or Sleepers, awake! could be perfect for a gentle, calm walk up the aisle at the beginning of the service, rather than as musical interludes during the signing of the register. Either piece could balance well with the bubbly, happy Gavotte by Wesley for the final procession, especially if your wedding is in a small, country church or if the other elements of the service, such as flowers, colour schemes or dresses are in a rustic style. Finally, make sure that you choose music that you really like. It is, of course, a special day, and even though the service may be the shortest (but actually the most important) part of the festivities, it is essential to get it right. The music really counts. Even if you don't think you are a musical person, think again of the effect of music in a film, from Brief Encounter to Four Weddings and A Funeral, and choose music that you will want to remember in the years to come.
