Album DescriptionThe Purple Critter (and some of his friends) is an eclectic selection of traditional children's songs and stories on CD done in the traditional genre, beautifully sung with traditional instrument accompaniment including the accordion, nothing is synthesized. The familiar selections are sung and narrated clearly, making it easy for young children to hear and learn them. Included are two novelty songs that remain children's favorites, "Purple People Eater" and "Witchdoctor" played and sung in the original style and tempo that made them very popular. In addition to the familiar verse of "The Cat And The Fiddle", it is put to music and explains the antics of the cow jumping over the moon and the dish running away with the spoon. The entertaining "Froggie Mouse" is one of many versions that has it's origins in British and American folksong and dates back to the 16th Century."Goosey Goosey Gander"also has additional verse. This is a fun CD.
