"Sometimes Venetian Snares is moody and atmospheric ("Doll Doll Doll," "Find Candace") and sometimes it's fun and loose ("Winnipeg is a Frozen Sh-thole," "Infolepsy," "Chocolate Wheelchair Album"). "Pink + Green" is definitely in the latter category, with Mr. Funk truly cutting loose and verging into accessible IDM. The great thing about Mr. Funk is that he can basically take any genre of music, comment on it, make it his own, and create something light-years better than the original source. It's amazing how he just keeps getting better and better with each new album -- constantly changing, but never losing his identity.
This brief EP reminds me of the song "Winnipeg as Mandatory Scat Feed," where Mr. Funk went into full-blown gabber/Sickboy mode on the aforementioned "Winnipeg is a Frozen Sh-thole."
This isn't as rich and complex as releases like "Meathole" and "Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett," but it's extremely entertaining and shows yet again that Mr. Funk elevates this genre above and beyond anyone else."

"As I say about every Venetian Snares release, I have no idea how Aaron Funk is so prolific and so consistently great. He manages to create in a style uniquely his, but it progresses with each album with new approaches, new grooves, and new sounds.
There's a nice range here - some crazy odd-meter blitzkriegs, a slow number (well, slow for Venetian Snares anyway), some funny samples, and plenty of the usual madness that we love him for. Oh yeah, and one hilarious track title.
I would say this is similar in tone to "Cavalcade of Glee", but maybe a bit more focused. He definitely refines some of the ideas started there. I could spend more time describing the music, but if you know VSNARES, you know what you're getting. This is definitely a quality EP - there's a lot more variety than Hospitality and a little more easily accessible than "Horse and Goat".
I would definitely recommend this for any VSNARES fan. It's probably not the best place to start for a new-comer, but that's only because of its brevity and because albums like "Higgins" or "Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett" are so amazing. The trouble is Amazon's price. $14.95 for an EP that's 22 minutes? Way to high! It's $4 download on iTunes, if you can deal with 128k files."
