"The Ventures began playing music in the Pacific Northwest. Don Wilson (rhythm guitar) was born in Tacoma, Washington on February 10, 1933. It's hard to believe that the nominal leader of the group recently turned 70 years old! Bob Bogle (bass and lead guitar) and Nokie Edwards (lead guitar) joined him to form the Ventures. Their original drummer was soon replaced by Mel Taylor. Since his passing, his son Leon has ably taken over as their drummer. It is this lineup of the Ventures that played Seattle in 2001 and 2002. The tracks on this CD were recorded at those concerts. The Ventures are masterful musicians, but this live CD proves that they weren't just going through the motions. They play with a joy and an intensity that doesn't let up from the opening "Walk Don't Run Medley" to the closing notes of "Caravan." The Ventures should make time in their busy schedule to play a concert in Cleveland. Maybe then the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame members would wake up and induct the Ventures before any more members pass away."
